DervishTheViolinist was born in Istanbul, Turkey where western world meets east both geographically and literally which affected his music career later on as a composer who uses eastern themes on western forms. His family pedigree has the lineal kinship with worldwide known poet, philosopher, and theologian Mawlana Jalal ad-Din Muhammad RUMI(1207-1273 AC) and his ancestors has been the successors of The Mawlawi Sufi Order for ages. This heritage and being a member of the family of Whirling Dervishes inspired to name himself as DervishTheViolinist. He started to play violin and piano with his personal tutor in his childhood then attended MSU Conservatory where he got his high school and bachelors degree. He majored on classical violin and performed at Cannes, Marseilles, Rome, Aix en Provence and several cities of Turkey. He participated as an additional performer to many musicians’ albums in USA and Turkey.

Besides his career as a performer he started his career as a Sound Engineer (Tonmeister) in 1997. He was one of the top producing team members at EBU European Jazz Festival 2003, Eurovision 2004, Istanbul International Music Festival 2007 & 2008. He had the opportunity to record and master the works of Sir Neville Mariner with Academy Of The St. Martin In The Fields, Beaux Arts Trio, Kurt Masur with New York Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Jullian Lloyd Weber, Sholomo Mintz and Turkish worldwide Classical Music performers such as Huseyin Sermet, Fazil Say, Idil Biret, Suna Kan, Gulsin Onay, Aysegul Sarica and Guher & Suher Pekinel. He became a well knowned and an appreciated sound engineer locally and internationally. He has also produced several music programs at TRT.

His background as a classical violin artist and profession as a sound engineer leaded him to develop an interest to compose electronic music in 1998. At the beginning he used European dance music forms. Then with the influence of Turkish Folcloric Music and Culture he started to use Turkish and Eastern themes and inspirations on these forms. By the time, his musical works diverted into two categories. First category has been; film and documentary musics and soundtracks which are mostly based on European forms and the second category has been the ethnic electronic music influenced by eastern and oriental themes. He always successfully mixes electronic and acoustic music in both categories. Nexus 6 is his latest musical work which is also the first of a triplet. Nexus 6 is also the name of the genetically engineered series of replicants in the film “Blade Runner” by Ridley Scott which has been an inspiration to many artists. In this cult classic and unforgetable film of popular culture, Nexus-6 Series and their ability defined to go where no humans had gone, and do things no human had done. The second and third works of the triplet will be released soon.
